Something To Think About

Evesham Editorial 19th Nov, 2017   0

MENTION the name ‘Pudsey’ and three things will probably spring to mind. A town in West Yorkshire, a one eyed bear and ‘Children in Need’.

This is the weekend when the great fund raise will be taking place, when millions of pounds will be donated to assist ‘Children in Need’ in various places.

Every year an astonishing amount of money is given to this great cause.

In 1985 Joanne Lane was working in the BBC’s design department when she was asked to revamp the ‘Children in Need’ logo.

The idea of a teddy bear came to mind, but what to call it. She was originally from Pudsey in West Yorkshire, so hence the name that has become synonymous with ‘Children in Need’.

We must always be sure to take care of children, especially the most vulnerable.

In the New Testament we read of a time when the disciples of Jesus told the children to go away because they did not want them to bother him.

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these”.

In another place Jesus says that we must become like little children in order to know and understand his love and to be able to enter heaven.

Whatever our age, let us remember that fact, and let Christ into our lives so that we can know the love, peace and joy that comes from his Father, God.
