Something to Think About

TWO batsmen dominated the One Day International cricket match between England and the Windies last weekend.

The Windies player was a very muscular powerful chap whilst the England batsman was somewhat smaller in stature.

The one scored 99 runs whilst the other scored 102 runs, both of them scoring sixes all around the ground.

As young teenagers in the 1950’s we were constantly told that “you too can have a body like mine” if we subscribed to the ‘Charles Atlas’ mail order body building course.

I only knew of one lad who tried it, it was too expensive for the rest of us, but it did not seem to do him any good, as he remained the same shape.

So often, today, we all want bigger salaries, larger houses, fancier cars and the like, but where does it get us?

Very often deep in debt as we ‘try to keep up with the Jones’ and they are probably in as much debt themselves trying to keep up with us.

What is it that we want in life, all those things mentioned above or contentment and a satisfied life?

A line in the Book of Psalms in the Old Testament of the Bible says, “Though your riches increase, do no set your heart on them”.

The Bible is not against people having riches but it is what we do with those riches that matter. Jesus Christ wants us to build up treasures in heaven by allowing him into our lives so that he can share God’s love with each of us now.
