Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 10th Sep, 2017   0

WHEN I was a young lad I was often told to eat my carrots so I would be able to see in the dark and I have heard the same phrase many times since.

The other day I read about Group Captain John Cunningham, who was not only a famous Second World War pilot, but also the test pilot for the De Havilland aircraft company.

The British had pioneered a device for pinpoint night-time low level bombing and the enemy was keen to know its secret.

During the Second World War the food minister Lord Woolton had a problem with a mountain of carrots that needed to be eaten, so the story went out that a diet of carrots had given John Cunningham his cat’s eyes.

Within a week every young boy was clamouring to eat carrots. The mountain of carrots was soon eaten and the enemy fooled yet again.

Down through the ages there must have been thousands of myths have been circulated and which have fooled millions of people.

Sometimes in today’s world we are told that it is a myth to believe in God and in Jesus Christ.

Multitudes believe that, but of course the opposite is true, as millions around the world will testify that they have proved without a shadow of doubt that there is a God and that Jesus Christ came to this world to show us God’s love and to invite us to share in that love.
