Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 3rd Sep, 2017   0

OVER the past four weeks I have had to attend three hospital appointments in Worcester which is 20 miles from my home.

In view of this I have given myself plenty of time to get there because of what my wife describes as the possibility of so many ‘pop up road works’ on the way.

Every time, I have arrived far too early because the road works had not ‘popped up’ as expected.

There are so many times in life when we have to ‘expect the unexpected’ and somehow anticipate the problems that these events can bring.

We live in a fast moving age and we need to be always aware there could be problems around the corner and endeavour to be ready to meet those situations head on.

How many times have we said or heard it said, ‘If only I had known, then that particular problem needn’t have arisen’.

In speaking to the crowds, Jesus Christ told them of the man whose house was burgled and Jesus said that if that man had known, he would have been ready watching and would have stopped the burglary from happening.

Likewise, Jesus spoke of the time when he will come back and he exhorts us to be ready because he will come at an hour when we do not expect him.

How ready are we for that day when we meet him?
