Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 8th Jan, 2024   0

THE other evening, I was looking out of the window and I noticed an unusual light on my Garden Model Railway in the back garden.

I knew that I had not been running the railway so I was curious to find out what the light was.

I went outside and realised that it was a reflection of the streetlight from the road at the back which was reflecting off a panel which holds the track and ballast in place.

Curiosity satisfied.

Two thousand years ago some Wise Men from the East travelled many miles to see a New-born King. They had seen the Star many months before and had followed it for hundreds of miles in their quest to see this King.

Of course, they went straight to King Herod’s Palace in Jerusalem asking to see this New-born King.

This infuriated Herod and he flew into a rage which eventually caused him to authorise the slaying of hundreds of young children.

But the Wise Men carried on their journey having been told that the Child was in the town of Bethlehem.

Having given their gifts, they were told not to go back to Herod but to go home a different way.

As we seek to know Jesus Christ there are many who would try to stop us, but as we step into this New Year let us be like those Wise Men and persevere in our quest to find the Saviour.
