Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 25th Jun, 2017   0

I SIT down to write this having just returned from one of my favourite places, the dentist. Really! I hear you say.

Actually it isn’t, but I do have an excellent and considerate dentist whom I have known for many years and he fully appreciates I have a very unusual jaw formation.

This makes it uncomfortable for me to have my mouth open wide for long periods.

Sitting in the dentist chair, having had the injection and with the sound of the whirring of the drills is not the best of situations but as I want to keep my own teeth it is a necessary activity.

Not all things in life are pleasant and many of the unpleasant ones are also very necessary for our wellbeing.

It looks as if I may have to have a hip replacement but I know that it will once again enable me to do all the walking and seeing the wonderful countryside around me.

Before his cruel death on the cross, Jesus Christ prayed that his Father God would take away the necessity of the agony but he also knew that it was absolutely necessary for us to be able to know the full extent of God’s love for all people.

Because he came to live amongst ordinary people like you and me, Jesus knows what it is like to face problems and difficulties that is why he calls us to come to prayer in his name to God, to find his tremendous love.
