Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 19th Sep, 2023   0

‘Anxious’, ‘nervous’, ‘excited’ and ‘happy’ are just a few words we have probably used many times in our lives especially at this time of year as we think of children starting school for the first time and older children changing schools, going to university, or even starting a new job.

We may even be thinking about the change of season along with the darker nights that it brings.

During our lives we will have faced many times when those four words will have had a significant meaning to the relevant situations which we faced bringing their various expressions of joy or sadness.

As Jesus Christ drew His disciples together, each one of the above words will have had a tremendous impact on them, because they were literally stepping out into unknown territory.

Jesus was calling them to a path which at the time was alien to them and their current way of life.

As we respond to Jesus’s call to follow Him, we know that it will be different and worthwhile because we can see that life being lived out in the lives of others who are already walking in His footsteps.

We must be thankful that those original disciples were willing to take the chance and move out into new territory, so that today we can know the full impact of God’s wonderful salvation for ourselves.
