‘Be prepared’ is the motto of the Girl Guiding and Scouting movements.
The other day I was travelling through one of the small Worcestershire villages when that motto came to mind.
In the midst of the few houses on the only village street was a Defibrillator attached to the wall and I remarked to my wife, “What great forward thinking for such a small place.”
As I look back over my life, I am so thankful for the many times that my wife and I have been prepared because we have had that forward thinking.
As we read the New Testament Gospels, we see so many times that the Disciples of Jesus Christ are so unprepared because they had no forward thinking or planning.
Thank goodness that Jesus was around to help them out in their difficulties.
Of course, there have been many times in our lives when unexpected happenings have occurred but as we have come to Jesus in prayer, we have experienced seeing His hand in our lives and we have marvelled at the answers to those prayers. Although the answers have not always been what we expected we have accepted them with gratitude and thanks.
