Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 26th Jun, 2023   0

AS A youngster learning to play cricket, I was always told that ‘catches win matches’ and conversely ‘dropped catches can lose matches.

On practice days I always enjoyed standing around the ‘cradle’, throwing the ball at it and catching the rebound as it came off at various speeds and angles which was good for me as I was ‘a close in fielder’ and expected to ‘snap up’ those near opportunities in the competitive games.

Sadly, for England, they seemed to have forgotten the advice as they dropped a number of catches last Tuesday which gave the First Ashes Test to the Australians.

Over the years I took many great catches but also sadly dropped the odd one or two as well.

There are many times in life when sound practice is ignored or forgotten and great opportunities can be lost or thrown away.

The Bible is full of great advice which we can accept or reject as we choose and therefore, we bear the consequences for those decisions.

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, came to earth in order to tell us more of the greatness of the love of His Father and to explain how we can experience that love and salvation in our own lives.

As we read the New Testament, we can accept that advice and find that it will make a tremendous difference to our daily lives.
