Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 16th May, 2023   0

At the beginning of the Coronation Ceremony a young boy asked King Charles lll a very pertinent question, which when paraphrased by one of the commentors, said, “Why are you here?”.

The King’s answer was, “I am here to serve and not to be served”.

During last Monday, it was so good that millions of people said the same thing as they volunteered and helped out in so many places throughout the country.

Despite the awful weather we saw people carrying out tasks to help those who could not help themselves and I know that they were all happy because of what they had done for their fellow human beings.

Those words from King Charles echoed the words which Jesus Christ said on numerous occasions in the Gospels; that He had come to serve and not be served.

He impressed that thought upon His disciples and all who followed Him and He wants us to be of the same mind as we live out our daily lives today.

A good question we can ask ourselves each morning is this, “How can I help someone in need today?”

Then, let us go and do it in a cheerful manner and a smile on our face.
