The actions of two footballers caught my attention this week. One criticising his club and manager in a TV interview and subsequently being shown the door out of the club.
The other had promised a young fan that if he scored for England at the World Cup, he would do ‘the wiggly worm’ to celebrate especially for this boy who has cerebral palsy.
The player also telephoned the boy to ask if he had watched the match and seen his celebration dedicated to him.
This was the act of a ‘super star’ showing his care and concern for someone who was not as well-known or as fortunate as him.
There can be many times, in life, when we can be the ‘super star’ and
help someone not so fortunate as we are.
During His time here on earth, Jesus Christ was the ‘Super star’ and He went around ministering to all people, whatever their class or status, because He came to bring deliverance and light into those lives.
Whoever we are, there will be those times in our lives when we need to turn to Jesus for guidance and help and He can be there as we come to Him in prayer.
Jesus is truly the “Super Star’ in today’s world.
