“WE SHOULD Paint the Rabbit”, said my wife to me the other day.
It took me a few moments to realise she meant the stone one in the garden border and not one of the furry ones we see in the fields around.
I was glad as I did not envisage or welcome the idea of chasing around the fields with pots of paint and brushes in my hands.
We have friends who have some wonderfully painted gnomes in their garden that are periodically given a new coat of paint.
Love or loathe gnomes, they are still the same stone structures whether they are brightly coloured or just grey concrete.
It is like the old saying, “They look like mutton dressed as lamb”.
Long ago I learnt that it is no good trying to be like someone else, because no matter how good we are, we can never really clone him or her properly.
We need to be who we are, the real ‘me’ and not some imitation.
However, there is one person who we should endeavour to follow and be like and that is Jesus Christ, for he calls us to follow him and live out our lives for him to those around us.
Jesus came to bring us New Life from God his Father and throughout the Gospels in the Bible he encourages us to take on board his teaching and his lifestyle by the way that we live and behave in this world.
