ALONG with the thousands who thronged the streets and roads and with the millions watching on televisions and big screens around the world, I followed every moment of the funeral of our late Queen Elizabeth ll.
What an exceptionally moving occasion it was and to see the pride on the faces of those service personnel taking part was very special.
I spent nine years in the Accounts Department of the Royal Air Force and on two of the camps on which I served I had the privilege of being part of the Guard of Honour for the welcoming of various Dignitaries. I know the pride of what it was like for those men and women as they paraded to say goodbye to their Commander in Chief.
I did not have the privilege of personally meeting the late Queen, but I did see her on three or four occasions from a distance.
The one thing that Queen Elizabeth and I have in common is our faith in Jesus Christ, which she so often shared in her Christmas Messages and at other times.
The one thing that she shared during her speech at the pandemic and echoed by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the end of his message last Monday was the phrase, “We’ll meet again”.
We too can have that assurance as we accept the salvation which comes from God through His Son, Jesus Christ
