TWO days before Father’s Day I received a parcel, which my wife told me to open immediately as per our daughters’ instructions.
Not wishing to have ‘tongue pie’ for the rest of the weekend, I duly carried out their instructions and as I did so a Helium filled balloon shot out of the box. On each side of the balloon were the words “BEST DAD”. Even today, over three weeks later the balloon is still showing its message.
My natural father sadly died when I was only five years old but when I was seventeen my mother married again to a man who became as much a father to me as if he had been my natural father, truly a BEST DAD.
I am grateful to him for all the love, care and instruction that he gave me in my latter teenage years.
I have endeavoured to be like that to my children, grandchildren and now my great grandchildren, to help them on life’s journey.
Jesus Christ came to earth in order to help us realise just how much His Father, God, wants us to experience His great love for us.
I have come to realise just how great that love can be for each of us as we put our trust in Him.
In the good times and the bad, Father and Son have been a prayer away and They have constantly been available for me in all situations.
