RECENTLY my wife and I were trying to think of the name of a tune that we had heard.
I said that it was a Gracie Fields hit from our childhood, but she wasn’t convinced.
So, to find the old, I turned to the new and used the Internet to find all the hits that Gracie had sung and sure enough we realised that it was the tune to the song, “Now is the hour”, recorded in 1947.
These days sometimes a Hymn is sung to this tune.
It made us realise that although we did not have the modern-day amenities in our childhood and youth, there was so much to be thankful for which the present-day generation does not appear to have.
When Jesus Christ came to live here on earth He brought a simplicity of the truth of God, which the religious leaders of His day had made difficult to understand. They had placed so many rules and regulations on top of the Ten Commandments that people were getting more and more confused.
Jesus showed them and us that God is not a being to be feared or dreaded but a Loving Heavenly Father who we can turn to in our times of need.
The Lord Jesus brings us a message for this present age, and He asks us simply to believe in Him as our Lord and Saviour.
