Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 27th Feb, 2022   0

IT IS often said that sheep are silly creatures and are prone to wander off at will. But is that always really true?

In last Friday’s daily newspaper there was a photograph of five sheep and one lamb all sheltering in a glass sided bus shelter, while in the field at the back of the picture was the rest of the flock all getting soaking wet in the rain. The six were certainly not the silly ones there.

Life can sometimes be like that in which most of us can follow the rest of the flock instead of making decisions for ourselves.

The Bible mentions sheep on many occasions, particularly when it states, “That all we like sheep have gone astray, each one to its own way”.

Jesus Himself tells us the story of the ‘Lost Sheep’ and how the shepherd left the ninety-nine in the fold so that he could go out to find the one which had gone astray.

When he found it he brought it home and rejoiced with his friends that he had found the one which had wandered off by itself.

No doubt there are many times when we have felt like that one lost sheep, all alone and wondering what will happen to us, but that is when we can realise that the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is there to bring us home as we put our trust in Him.
