Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 30th Apr, 2017   0

THE HEADING under the photograph of four trains in last Monday’s daily paper read, “Flying Scotsman shows younger generation how to arrive”.

The steam locomotive was part of a Network Rail photo shoot alongside an HST, an InterCity 225 and the latest Azuma that will come into service next year.

The “past, present and future” of Britain’s railways was being celebrated as the side by side four-train line up epitomised the evolution of the stylish trains on the East Coast main line.

To me the one which stood out far above the rest was “Scotsman” because it really did look alive whilst the other three were like lifeless lumps of steel and glass.

Yes, the three were clean, fast and sleek but as a ‘steam buff’, I thought that the steam engine really did look alive.

We read in the Gospels of the days following the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ when he appeared to so many people and proved that he is the Risen Saviour of the world.

In the picture I saw three trains that appear to be dead whilst the fourth one showed that there was so much life within it.

How do we see and experience Jesus today?

To us, is he still dead and lying in a tomb or is he alive and living within our lives and leading us to know more about the love of God, which is available to us all?
