Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 23rd Apr, 2017   0

THIS week I read of an unusual bond between a donkey and a little girl who had a speech problem.

The girl had been born prematurely and was unable to speak without the use of a special valve.

The donkey had been so badly ill treated that the people at the donkey sanctuary had never heard him bray.

When the two came together, the girl was able to speak using the special valve, which she had not done before, and the donkey ‘brayed’.

“I’d say they healed each other”, said the girl’s father, of the remarkable bond between donkey and child.

Over a period of time, riding the donkey helped the little girl to develop muscles that enabled her to walk, defying her doctors’ expectations because she had cerebral palsy which made it difficult for her to co-ordinate her movements.

We often think of donkeys as being stupid animals but in many cases the opposite is true and they often bear very heavy loads.

Thousands of children have spent many hours enjoying donkey rides across the beach at the seaside.

There are a number of times in the bible where donkeys are mentioned and used by God, and on one occasion the animal actually spoke.

There can be times in our lives when we can feel that we are not making much of an impact by our lives but when we allow Jesus Christ to guide and help us, then we can find that we are a blessing to the people around us.
