DURING the time the TV series Who Do You Think You Are is being screened usually there appears to be an article in the news about the celebrity, stating they have been horrified at the actions of some of their ancestors.
Do I really want to know of the bad deeds of any of my former family members?
But then again it may be the good deeds would far out weigh the not so good in our forefathers.
These days it is quite easy to look back at our ancestral history to see what our forebears achieved for good or bad.
As we approach Christmas, our thoughts turn to the story of the Angel Gabriel’s visit to Mary in Nazareth when He announced that she would be pregnant with a baby from Heaven.
Now, Nazareth, wasn’t the best of places to be brought up in because of its’ reputation, but that is what happened to Jesus Christ.
Living in a place like that with a menial job as a Carpenter wasn’t really a great CV for the Son of God to have for His future ministry as the Saviour of the World, also there are a number of dubious characters in the genealogies that we read in the gospels.
God chose that His Son, Jesus, would live like that so that He would understand what it is like for each one of us in our daily lives and be able to answer our prayers.
