Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 19th Sep, 2021   0

“ABOVE the clouds, the sun is always shining”, is a phrase which I have used many times in encouraging people who are going through a dark time in their lives.

As I write this article today, one would be inclined to dispute that as it is dark and overcast with the rain pouring down, and no sign of the sun at all. A time to feel depressed and miserable.

But the weather forecast for tomorrow is bright sunshine, so there is something to look forward to.

In the Bible we read about the healing of blind Bartimaeus who was sitting begging by the gate in Jericho.

His world was dark and lonely, but Jesus Christ’s fame had gone before him and now there could be hope and light for the blind man’s future if only, he could attract Jesus’s attention.

He began to shout at the top of his voice to let the Lord know that he was there and needed his healing. Of course, as will always happen, the crowd told him to be quiet, which made him shout much louder.

The compassionate Jesus came over to him and healed him of his blindness and Bartimaeus followed the Lord along the way.

Jesus, the Son of God, is always there to help us, but of course we do not have to shout to get his attention. No, we can whisper a simple prayer and he will hear us, as we cry out in our need.
