FROM this week we have a new coin for our purses or pockets with the introduction of the 12-sided £1 coin.
It is said to be ‘the most secure coin in the world’ because of its unique features.
According to the Royal Mint roughly one in thirty of the old pound coins is counterfeit – equivalent of around £50million.
I wonder how many of us, even as law abiding citizens, have actually been breaking the law without realizing it by using fake coinage.
No doubt there will be someone who will counterfeit this new one and of course they will only have to pass on one coin and they will have made a profit.
Sadly we live in a world where so often the ‘real thing’ is passed off by counterfeit and deception.
During his earthly ministry Jesus Christ spoke often of the times when false prophets and teachers would appear to delude and cause people to doubt his and God’s existence.
But these people have all failed because Christianity has proved that it is so secure and true, for Jesus overcame death by rising again and he lives forever.
Can we be sure that the £1 in our pocket or purse, whether new or old, is the real thing or are we being conned?
The words of the bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ are true and secure, something that we can rely upon every day of our lives and they are certainly not counterfeit.
