THE OTHER week in this column I used the phrase, ‘Expect the unexpected’.
Over the past ten months there have been a quite a number of “unexpecteds”.
First we had the 5,000 to 1 underdogs, Leicester City, winning the Premier League by a large margin, and then it was followed by the British Prime Minister losing out to Brexit in the referendum.
Next came the US Presidential Election and now within the last week the sacking of Claudio Ranieri, the manager who guided Leicester City to the title.
Some say Ranieri deserved it because the team are now near the relegation zone, whilst others want a statue erected to honour him because of the vision he brought to the fans.
The power of the owners has once again prevailed, but Ranieri’s name will live on for years in the City of Leicester.
Two thousand years ago an unknown thirty-year-old man appeared on the scene bringing a message of love, joy and peace to the people around him.
Thousands came to see and hear him as he proclaimed God’s love to them.
That man, Jesus Christ, went around doing good but he was hounded by the jealous authorities who eventually had him killed on a cross.
But he rose again from the dead and lives and reigns in heaven and his message of love, joy and peace is available for us all to accept and appreciate today.
