IF I RECORD a programme from the TV which has adverts, I will fast forward through them and likewise if I am watching a live programme I will mute the sound.
But the other day I was quite intrigued by one advert so I decided to watch it all the way through.
There was a beautiful white fluffy cat which was constantly jumping up and down against a glass door and it seemed to be getting quite exasperated with overstretching itself.
Eventually the whole door was shown with a cat flap incorrectly fitted at the top and not the base and the fitter walking away.
Of course it was an advert for a certain opticians saying the man should have gone to them.
Very often we can overstretch ourselves because of other people’s expectations of us, especially parents and grandparents for their offspring.
There are many who try to reach God by doing seemingly impossible things in their lives, whilst all the time He wants us to simply put our trust in the salvation which is available through His Son, Jesus Christ.
We read in the New Testament that Jesus chose twelve disciples who were ordinary men from varying backgrounds and none of them being famous until they met him.
This is the wonderful thing Jesus wants people like us to become his disciples in today’s world, living out our faith to the people around us.
