DID you hear the story about the dog whose owners had put him on a diet but he became even fatter and they could not understand why?
Then one day they noticed the dog was sat by their front gate and passers-by were giving him biscuits, so no wonder he was putting on weight.
To combat this they put a notice on the gate, which read, ‘Please do not feed the dog as he is on a sponsored slim for Guide Dogs’.
After this the dog got slimmer and the owners received many donations for the charity.
It’s so easy to do what we think is right when really it is the wrong thing to do in the circumstances.
Two thousand years ago the religious authorities thought they were doing the right thing when they had Jesus Christ crucified on the cross, because he was going against the ‘norm’ with his preaching and his miracles.
He was taking the world by ‘storm’ with the revolutionary way in which he was showing the real love of God, his Father, to the multitudes around him.
As we approach Christmas let us look beyond the norm and see the true reality of ‘the reason for the Season’; beyond our normal perception of the mad panic to get everything ready for the 25th.
See the Christ child born in Bethlehem, born to be ‘Immanuel, God with us’, bringing us love, joy, peace and salvation
