THE other day I needed some self adhesive hook and loop tape to enable me to fit interior battery lights to the carriages on my model garden railway.
I also needed some double-sided tape for a DIY job I was doing at the same time.
As my wife was shopping she offered to purchase these items for me.
She rang me from the store to ask what size tape I required but I thought she meant the double-sided tape and so for a few moments we were both at cross-purposes. Eventually I realised this and was then able to confirm which size I required.
It is so sad we can sometimes be at cross-purposes with someone and it can last a lifetime.
There were many times whilst he was here on earth that Jesus Christ’s disciples were at cross-purposes with him because they did not fully understand what he was telling them.
For three years they had travelled around with him but it wasn’t until after his death, resurrection and ascension back to heaven that they fully understood.
They realised he had not come to fight the occupying Roman army but had come to share the love of God, his Father, with people like us
