Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 8th Sep, 2019   0

“WHY can’t we go today, mummy?” asked the little girl.

“Because it is Bank Holiday Monday and there isn’t one”, replied her mother.

At this the little girl was sad as she so enjoyed the Monday morning drop ins’with all the toys and games, with free tea or coffee for the grown ups or squash for the children.

With no iPads or Xboxes around, the little girl so enjoyed playing with the old fashioned games and it was great when they did the hokey cokey; marched up and down the hill with The Grand Old Duke of York and then did the Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes exercise.

Great fun for all and it takes place in Badsey Parish Church.

“But you can’t do that sort of thing in a church”, I hear some say! Why not? Church is to be enjoyed, not endured.

Also, listen to the happy chatter of the people over a cuppa after the Sunday morning service.

Anyway we read in the New Testament of the Bible, of the many occasions when the ‘religious’ people confronted Jesus Christ because they thought that he was terribly out of line with their teaching, with the things that he did and the places and people he visited.

The thing is, of course, that Jesus Christ came to give us a life full of love, joy and peace from God his Father.

Church should be like that today for each one of us.
