Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 15th Jan, 2017   0

A FEW years ago my wife was invited to an evening function at St James Palace in London, which did not include a guest.

Having spent the day together in the capital, I was planning to sit and wait in St James Park, but because of the inclement weather I ended up sitting on the concourse of Victoria Station.

What an ‘eye opener’ that was, as I sat amongst the hundreds of commuters rushing this way and that to catch their trains.

It was just like what I assumed it would be in the middle of an ant’s nest.

Whenever I travel on the London Underground I immediately know who the tourists are, because they are the ones talking to each other.

Back in 1979, Cliff Richard had a hit record entitled, ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ and it seems that it is still the same today.

What is wrong with having a good conversation with someone even if we do not know that person very well?

I was at a funeral last week and met so many friends who I had not seen for years and it was good to catch up in conversation with them.

Before he ascended back to heaven, Jesus Christ told his disciples that he would talk to God, his Father, on their behalf and that applies as much to us today as it did to them two thousand years ago.

Whatever our situation good or not so good, let us lift up our voice to God to thank Him or to ask for His help in our lives.
