Something 'Great' is coming? But what creature will be the next to visit Worcestershire?

SOMETHING ‘Great’ is on the way to Worcester in 2024 after St Richard’s Hospice bosses teased the popular charity trail would return for the third time.

Ahead of an official launch on Thursday (March 23), the Worcester hospice has taken to social media with the message ‘Something Great is Coming’.

The tease has prompted a number of ideas of the identity of the next creatures to set up residence in the Faithful City with bears and their cubs being mentioned by many.

Next year’s trail will be the third time St Richard’s has partnered with creative chiefs at Wild in Art for the legendary trails to entertain young and old alike as part of ‘Worcester’s Big Parade’.

Giraffes graced landmarks across Worcester in 2018 in a variety of designs thanks to local arists who teamed up with companies and local causes including city schools to create a never-before-seen trail.

The creatures more than earned their keep as an auction of the 31 giraffes earned the hospice £210,400.

Buoyed by their success, the hospice revealed in 2020 that Worcester would welcome a herd of elephants, again in a variety of colours.

And after a 2021 summer of bringing a smile to the faces of Worcester’s residents and visitors from further afield, the herd raised a staggering £368,000 for St Richard’s.

In addition to the new trail, 2024 will also see the Wildwood Drive hospice celebrate its 40th anniversary, but what creatures will grace the city next?

“We are SO excited to say our next art trail will arrive in Worcester in the summer of 2024.” a statement on social media read.

“We know how loved our giraffes and ele-friends were in 2018 and 2021 and can’t wait to bring a third Wild in Art trail to the city’s streets and open spaces in 2024.”
