Some historic fun

A CRACKING celebration of Easter is on offer at the Commandery with egg trails, entertainment, arts, crafts and even a visit from England’s patron saint to one of Worcester’s oldest buildings.

On Monday (April 22) The Commandery will play host to a day celebrating all things Easter as well as discovering the legend behind England’s patron saint.

There are a number of myths and stories about St. George, the most famous is that of his heroic battle with a dragon to save a princess and the town’s folk, which dates back to the 11th Century.

Children of all ages can channel their inner knight by creating their very own shield as well as making a dragon head pen pot to take away with them.

There will also be Easter-themed crafts and time to take part in a mass egg roll from the top of Fort Royal Park, situated just behind The Commandery, organised by The Friends of Fort Royal Park.

As well as Easter Monday there are activities for families throughout the Easter half-term holiday including bonnet-making and an egg trail around the site.

Museum Attendant Oli Carey said: “The Commandery is the perfect place to find out all about our patron saint, as well as run off some of that chocolate-fuelled energy in our beautiful gardens and nearby Fort Royal Park with its fantastic civil war-themed play area.”

Worcester City residents can take advantage of a resident ticket with access to The Commandery and its programme of events for the whole year for £5.
