So what’s the Net Zero problem all our UK citizens have tasked our current elected representatives to resolve?

Years of scientific research, worldwide evidence of disastrous floods, extreme drought, uncontrollable fires, human and animal loss, have created an urgent need to reduce UK Co2 emissions to Net Zero by ideally year 2030, but essentially by 2050.

The problem is all their current answers could be scrapped, either in 2025 or 2030, scuppered by the 5 year Parliamentary electoral cycle.

Or 6 times by 2050.The thousand dollar question is: are our elected representatives currently able to ensure continuity of effective long term planning?

It’s no good, like a rookie student thinking they’ve answered all the questions asked, and checked their work so it’s a done deal.

Even our currently much maligned school system could teach us 5 magic math checking strategies, especially when so much is at stake

1. Revise the work done so far, without looking at the work already done.

2. Suggest the opposite to what has been done to see if that is possible.

3. Ask ourselves if the new answer we then have is logical.

4. See how we can put our new answer into the pot, and how that might work.

5. Decide whether the new answer actually solves the question the problem is asking?

You do the Math. With those odds is it more likely to happen? You don’t need me to tell you. Just apply those checks.

Do our current partisan plotted plans face a resounding nought out of ten, and a rather tetchy – “my dear student, really!”- scribbled on the answer sheet!

What about a new answer based on consensus. It’s been done before, from 1940 to 1945.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that now, at a time of even more, potentially infinite threats, it appears we again need a secure, widely informed cross party cabinet. A cabinet supported by a number of co-opted specialist members, able to master global warming long term.10 out of 10
