Singing to keep Bell Tower ringing

MEMBERS of the Lygonian Singers will be in fine voice for a concert at St Lawrence’s Church in aid of the Bell Tower Appeal.

The concert will be held on Sunday (June 8) from 7pm and will build on last year’s popular event which raised £1,000 for the appeal.

Last year’s event was the first concert to be held since the church was restored to its former glory by the Churches’ Conservation Trust.

And this year’s programme from the talented local group of musicians will consist of folk songs, spirituals and excerpts from

popular American musicals.

Tickets are £10 (includes refreshments) and are available from the Almonry, on the door or by calling Sue Ablett on 07871 285606

or Alan Bees on 01386 443558.

The concert is just one part of a packed programme of events to raise cash for the Bell Tower appeal in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, June 14 from 7.30pm the Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society will be doing its bid to boost the appeal by presenting ‘Songs from the Shows’ at All Saints Church.

Tickets which include a glass of wine and nibbles are available from The Almonry, Abbey Appliances on the High Street, All Saints

Church Office or by calling Joyce Doyle on 01386 446918 or Dr Sue Ablett on 07871 285606.

And on Saturday, June 21 from 7pm, the National Youth Folklore Troupe of England will perform at the same venue.

Tickets cost from £4 and include light refreshments and are available through the same channels as above.
