A JUNIOR football team has hit the back of the net thanks to a new team kit from Evesham’s new Marks and Spencer Simply Food store.
The St Johns Colts Athletic under 12s all-boys football team secured the new sponsored team kit from the supermarket after winning a competition to celebrate the opening of the store at Evesham Shopping Park in November.
Mark Bishop, team manager, said: “We’re really pleased to be named the winners of this competition with M&S. The team looks really smart in the new blue and black strip and we’re proud to have the M&S logo on our shirts.
“We even won our first game wearing it 9-0 so hopefully this is the sign of things to come next season. I’m looking forward to the boys getting out onto the field and continuing to win more games wearing it.”
Sean Phillips, store manager of the new M&S Simply Food store in Evesham, added: “I was delighted to present the boys with their new kit and hope that it continues to bring them luck.
“At M&S we are committed to working with the local communities we serve and it has been great to start this off by helping St Johns Colts Athletic.
“I am looking forward to continuing to get to know people in the local community and hearing of the team’s progress over the coming months.”
