RUNNING enthusiasts are being invited to put their best foot forward in a popular family fun 10K event in Evesham.
Entries for the ninth annual Run Stuff Evesham Vale 10K on Sunday, July 10, organised by Evesham Vale Running Club, are now open and this year it will be raising funds for the Evesham Volunteer Centre.
Karen Patrick, event race director and David Bugg, owner of Run Stuff on the town’s High Street, recently met with Helen Gray from the charity, who provide transport and befriending services in the community, to launch a partnership aimed at raising funds for its ‘Promoting Older Peoples Independence’ project.
The scheme, which currently offers help, advice and support to the elderly in Evesham, is looking to expand its services to those suffering from dementia, with weekly visits from specially trained volunteers.
The race, which is a chip timed course starting and finishing on Crown Meadow and takes in the town and its riverside, attracts more than 600 runners yearly and Run Stuff will provide race equipment, prizes and marquee facilities on the day.
There will also be a children’s fun run on the meadow after the 10k race.
Mr Bugg said: “The race is our biggest sponsored event. As well as helping with the pre-race preparations, we have a team for friends, customers and family, who all run the race wearing Run Stuff branded T-shirts.
“At the end of the race we all gather on Crown Meadow to enjoy some hydration and a massage.”
