SHOPPERS were in the pink last weekend and helped a town supermarket raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

Tesco turned pink on Saturday and Sunday to raise awareness for CRUK, Race for Life and the Evesham Relay for Life and invited shoppers to wear something pink to celebrate.

Staff raised £373 from a cake sale and tombola while caring volunteers from Relay for Life held a collection at the front of the store where they also hoped to persuade local residents to join their campaign ahead of the event on September 1.

Volunteers raised a staggering £1,511.71 from the collection which meant the total raised over the weekend for the charity was £1,884.71

Lindsay Roach Community Champion at Evesham Tesco said: “We have been happy to support Race for Life for 17 years as a nationwide company. CRUK is such a worthy cause and cancer unfortunately touches so many of our lives.”“A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this wonderful cause.”
