Shoplifter jailed for eight weeks after M&S theft

A MAN has been jailed for eight weeks after he was convicted of attempting to steal more than £120 worth of alcohol from Marks and Spencer in Evesham.

Richard Howlett, 35, of Wych Road, Droitwich, was charged with twice breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which stopped him from entering shops in Droitwich.

He was also convicted of shoplifting from theWorcester Road store on Monday and disorderly behaviour during the same incident.

Kidderminster Magistrates Court heard how the store manager confronted Howlett about the theft and was threatened with violence when he gave chase in a bid to get the stock back. The majority of the alcohol was recovered but Howlett escaped with one bottle.




Howlett was arrested on Tuesday.
