VALE shoppers have been urged to ‘Buy Local’ in a bid to hand Evesham’s High Street a boost as part of a dedicated week of events.
‘Buy Local Week 2nd to 8th June’ is a campaign supported by the Best of Evesham, a local company which champions recommended independent businesses in the area for the benefit of residents and businesses alike.
The core element of the campaign is to get people to do more for the area, a simple sticker in a window or car is one way to show support for the Vale.
The campaign has the full support of Alan Jones, the local bestof Evesham champion, who said: “We have some distinctive and wonderful independent shops and businesses in our area, but we shouldn’t take them for granted.
“Buy Local reminds us that they need the support both of residents and local policy makers.
“We need to learn from other areas that have bucked the trend of empty shops and declining parades. With every-one
committed to supporting local business, combined with a loyal and active community, we can do the same.”
“High streets without a variety of shops and services lack life, vibrancy and that all-important pint of milk!”
And in a further boost, this year’s event has also attracted the support of Evesham’s MP Sir Peter Luff who met with Mr Jones
and Katie Gilbert from the Best of Evesham.
Alan and Katie will be visiting Evesham Leisure Centre during the week to speak about the campaign and will also be doing the rounds of local businesses.
Business owners wishing to display a Buy Local window sticker or to get more involved, should contact the Best of Evesham via www.thebestof.co.uk/evesham or call 01386 388136 for further details of how to do their bit.
Anyone who visits www.thebestof.co.uk/local/evesham to pledge their support during Buy Local week will also be entered into a daily prize draw with five people a day winning £100 to spend at a thebestof Evesham local business.
