Shock at Stanley knife found among sweets

A CONCERNED Evesham mum has spoken of her shock after she found an open bladed Stanley knife lying on a box of children’s sweets in a popular town supermarket.

Shelley Brain was shopping in Aldi last Thursday (December 10) when she walked into the store and saw the blade left on top of a stack of Haribo, which was easily in reach of young children, and handed it to the manager.

It’s not the first time the Evesham mum has found a Stanley knife in the supermarket. Just a few months ago, she found one lying in the meat section of the store, again with the blade on show.

“I ran over, picked it up, and tried to find a manager,” Mrs Brain said.

“I expected him to say sorry, but he didn’t.

“To be honest, I wasn’t expecting any praise for finding it, I just thought is he going to do anything about it.

“My only thought was that anybody could have picked it up, partially sighted people or children.”

The major retailer has since reminded staff in their Evesham store to be more aware of storing equipment safely.

A spokesman for Aldi said: “We thank the customer for bringing this to our attention.

“All employees at our Evesham store have been reminded of the need to store equipment safely after they have finished.”
