Shakespeare inspires Vale teenagers

Evesham Editorial 20th Jul, 2017   0

TALENTED teenagers from The De Montfort School took on the task of performing almost 7,000 words of Shakespeare from eight of his plays in an epic night of theatre.

Young actors such as Connor Hill, Alex McCullough and Dan Beck all performed challenging roles ranging from Hamlet to Mark Antony and Macbeth.

The event was performed at the Evesham Festival of Words, which also included music from singers and musicians.

The event, called ‘Teens Tackle Shakespeare’, was a huge success and many hope it will be performed again.

Eric Jones, who created and directed the production, said: “There were lots of props and costumes, lighting and sound equipment and even furniture to transport to the Almonry, but everything went according to plan and the evening was a huge success with the 70-strong audience, consisting of predictably quite a lot of parents.

“Two live pigeons, a pyrotechnic explosion, swords and some flaring garden torches were involved as well as thousands of words and a lot of acting.”

There was no escaping from what was a wonderful evening of words and music, performed entirely by teenagers.
