'Serious' blaze at Evesham industrial estate treated as suspected arson

A ‘SERIOUS’ blaze which broke out at a commercial unit on an industrial estate in Evesham is being treated as suspected arson.

Seven crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire Service were called out to Orleans Close at about 1.31am this morning.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to put out the fire.

A compressed air foam system was used as well as a thermal image camera.




It took fire crews more than three hours to to put out the blaze and crews are still there dampening the building.

There was also a second fire in a wheelie bin at the Evesham Trade Centre on St Richard’s Road.


Both incidents are believed to be linked, West Mercia Police have said, and investigating officers are treating the two fires as arson.

A police spokesperson said: “West Mercia Police were called to Orleans Close off Davies Roadd, Evesham, early this morning to support Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service officers who were dealing with fires at two properties.

“One fire was contained within a wheelie bin. The other caused substantial damage to a commercial premises. Both fires are being treated as arson.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at around 1.30am this morning and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously.”

Anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to call them on 101, quoting incident number 29s of Wednesday, August 2.
