AN AMBITIOUS £860,000 school refurbishment at Blackminster Middle School will see the school open its doors to visitors for the day.

Ahead of Evesham MP Nigel Huddleston cutting the ribbon on the new technology areas, the school will be open to the public from 10am on Friday (June 28) with a fete in the afternoon.

The school, which is rated good by OFSTED, will be opening its new state of the art facilities which have come to life as part of the revamp.

There are two science laboratories and a design technology area featuring a food technology area and graphics space.

Headteacher Lorna Button, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the facilities and we’re looking forward to further improving outcomes for our students in science and technology now we have these excellent new areas.

“We’re grateful Worcestershire County Council recognised the need for a refurbishment and pleased to see students and staff alike are attracted to the state-of-the-art facilities.”

Coun Marcus Hart, cabinet member for Education and Skills at Worcestershire County Council said: “Ensuring our schools have high quality facilities which support Worcestershire children’s education, is part of our work to improve outcomes for children and young people.

“I’m delighted the work at Blackminster Middle School has been so successful and I’m looking forward to seeing it soon.”

In 2018, Blackminster Middle School was recognised by Worcestershire County Council as needing improved facilities for pupils.

The refurbishment has cost around £860,000 and was funded from the County Council’s Capital Investment Programme. Work has been designed by Jacobs (UK) Ltd and undertaken by Hill Interior Contracts Ltd.
