YOUNGSTERS at Cropthorne with Charlton CE First School are celebrating after being handed £1,000 by staff at The Valley who took to the skies to celebrate the venue’s new summer opening hours.

An hour-long flight over the Worcestershire countryside on Friday, March 29 saw a light aircraft trail a banner and to enter the Facebook competition, people were asked to take a photo of the plane, post it on the Valley’s page and tag in their local school.

The flight started at Defford Croft Farm airfield, before making its way up to Worcester and flying over as many local towns and villages as possible including Droitwich, Offenham and Evesham.

Before its return back to Croft Farm, the plane circled the clear skies above the shops at The Valley.

Fiona Spear, retail marketing manager at The Valley, said: “It was a brilliant day and we delighted in sharing the excitement, with families and children, of seeing the aeroplane fly over Worcestershire.

“It was great to see everyone’s photos as they spotted the plane from their gardens and on their way home from school and work.”

The Valley Evesham’s Facebook page was filled with photos and Cropthorne with Charlton CE First School emerged victorious.
