School bid for minibus cash

A VALE school has launched an urgent appeal to raise vital funds for a new wheelchair accessible minibus.

The Vale of Evesham School, in Four Pools Lane, currently have about 150 children, from aged two to 19, and cater for those with a variety of disabilities and additional needs.

An increase in wheelchair bound children attending the school means the current minibus does not sufficiently cover the demand and so the Vale Minibus Appeal has subsequently been set up.

Sarah Harman, who help set up the appeal and her youngest son attends the school, said: “This outstanding school has made a huge difference to our sons life and in turn has opened up so many more opportunities for us as a whole family.

“It’s dedication to each and every one of the children shows in it’s amazing atmosphere and devoted staff.

“The schools own mini buses are an essential tool to enable all the children to be transported to many different place which are of benefit to them, both mentally and physically, every day and aids the schools own ethos of enabling inclusion in the

community.”

A number of fund-raising events have been planned as part of the appeal, including the ‘Lazy RUNdezvous’ in Church Lench on Saturday, June 28.

The sponsored run takes place from 12midday to 6pm with competitors taking on any amount of laps of the 800metre off-road athletics track.

Anyone wanting to participate in the rural loop on a unique, shaded and picturesque course is asked to get in touch for a sponsor form.

Robbie Harris, of Survival Running Events and Fitness Lab in Inkberrow, has taken on the challenge of completing 52 laps of the course, an amazing 26 miles.

Also at the event there will be a range of fun retro sports, a children’s obstacle course, a tug of war contest and variety of stalls.

There will be a licensed bar and refreshments and people are invited to bring a picnic along with their family and friends to enjoy on the hill, set amongst the trees and relax and enjoy the great atmosphere.

Live music entertainment will be provided in the afternoon by local and talented artist Tom Forbes.
