RPA reveal Worcester Warriors players are blocked from leaving club

WORCESTER Warriors players have been left in limbo after the Rugby Players Association (RPA) confirmed the company holding their contracts had not been placed into administration.

WRFC Players Ltd is a separate company to WRFC Trading Ltd (in administration) which called in the administrators on Tuesday (September 27).

While administrators Begbies Traynor are able to talk to prospective buyers about obtaining Sixways Stadium, the club’s players are in a ‘no-win’ scenario according to the RPA.

Bosses have called on the directors of WRFC Players Ltd and the administrators to provide urgent clarity on the situation.

“Without the players, there seems no viable long-term future for Worcester Warriors,” the statement said.

“With payday looming, the club suspended from competition, a winding up petition due to be heard next week, the players have no ability to terminate their contract if they wish to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

“Whilst we acknowledge the work going on behind the scenes, we call on the directors of WRFC Players Limited and all stakeholders to confirm their intentions with regards to WRFC Players Limited without delay.”
