AN EVESHAM charity is opening its doors to customers for longer with extended opening hours to serve the local community.
Roundabout, the popular furniture reuse and recycle charity located at the Blackminster Business Park will open its shop and warehouse doors on the first Saturday of the month from 10am to 2pm.
The trial will begin tomorrow (Saturday) and if successful the charity hopes to make the move permanent in addition to its Monday to Thursday opening hours from 9am to 1pm.
Manager Peter Andrews said he had lost count of the number of occasions people had commented Roundabout was never open at weekends.
“There is a serious aspect in making this decision, the primary objective of Roundabout is to redistribute donated furniture items to those persons in need across South Worcestershire and the surrounding areas.” he added.
“This is achieved by a sponsor known as a referral agent applying to Roundabout on behalf of the person in need.
“Many people in very low paid employment who work during the week would not necessarily qualify for a furniture referral.
“I believe it is very important as a charity we do not discriminate and we give those persons in employment trying to make
ends meet the opportunity to purchase low cost furniture items at the week end when they may be available.” he added.
As an introduction a large selection of furniture items will be half their normal price.
