Rose sets sights on Olympic glory

Evesham Editorial 30th Apr, 2024   0

A BRITISH champion runner from Evesham has made her dreams a reality after being picked to represent Team GB at the Paris Olympics.

Rose Harvey, a former lawyer, who studied in Malvern will run with the nation on her shoulders in Paris later this year.

She has been on quite the meteoric rise ahead of her selection after being made redundant during Covid lockdown just a few years ago.

Rose set herself a lockdown project – make the Surrey County running team. After clocking 2 hours 30 minutes in the Cheshire marathon, she leapfrogged county running and secured herself an invitation to the England half marathon team.

From there she turned professional in 2022, with a sponsorship from Puma.

Not long after she represented Great Britain at the World Championships and later that year, became British Champion at the 2022 London Marathon.

In October, 2023, Rose ran 2 hours 23 minutes at the Chicago Marathon, placing her 6th on the British all-time list.

Now she will compete for Olympic glory in Paris which kicks off on July 26.

She said: “I am beyond excited to have been selected for the Great Britain team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The road to Paris has begun.”

“Of course, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone in my team who has believed in me and supported me along the way. Follow your dreams. They might just become your reality.”
