AN EVESHAM road surfacing firm is celebrating winning an industry award for its health and safety practices.

Jet Plant Hire, a road planing contractor, is celebrating the much-respected Safety in Operation award from the Motor Transport Awards.

Road planing is a technique used to allow the complete removal of a road surface layer, allowing a new surface to be directly overlaid to it.

Jet took home the coveted award for its delivery of the highest standards of health and safety. The business has a strong culture of safety best practice and continuous learning and sets a standard now recognised by the wider industry.

Their award was collected by Managing Director Sean Witheford and Business Improvement Director, Tina Greenhill last week at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Managing director, Sean Witheford said: “Winning this nationally recognised award shows we can walk the walk, as well as talk the talk.

“Being highlighted by the Motor Transport judges really validates the hard work of our team over many years. Health and safety is something I have made a top business priority.

“After all, nothing is more important than people going home safely to their families at the end of a busy working day.”

The firm has seen no fatalities or work related road injuries in the last three years. Its senior managers make regular site visits, monitor incidents and carry out random checks on vehicles.

Business improvement director, Tina Greenhill added: “We’re very proud of receiving the award, but we certainly won’t be getting complacent, if anything it simply re-affirms our commitment to maintaining the very highest standards.”
