A CLEAN-UP of a popular riverside walk in Evesham has attracted support from concerned local firms.
Members of the Evesham Town Plan Anti-Litter Group have begun a new relationship between partners Tesco, PJ Laight and The Warwickshire and West Mercia Community Probation service to clean up the Riverside Path to benefit of local residents.
Over the years, the path has become increasingly popular with Evesham people for walking along the riverbank, however, it has become an area that is rife with litter.
Tesco and the WMCPS joined forces to tackle the embankment at the rear of the store. Carrying out the removal of litter on behalf of the Anti-Litter Group, the Probation Service cleared the brambles and litter, allowing the space to become open for walkers to enjoy and use.
The damaged fence, which was situated on PJ Laight’s land, was also removed and the business kindly replaced it with a stock fence, allowing further safety and access for the public.
Group chairman Coun Gerry O’Donnell, said: “It is now an enjoyable extension to the walk which people to walk right round Evesham, following the river and over the Battlefield trail and we hope it will encourage more people to make use of the scenic path.”
