THOUSANDS flocked to this year’s Evesham River Festival as the crowds were wowed by the illuminated boat parade and spectacular firework display.
The popular event saw a number of boats put on a colourful display on the River Avon last Saturday with their interpretation of book titles.
The winning boat, TIPSY 2, stole the show by bringing to life the Wizard of Oz with a well-dressed boat and crew.
As well as that, the Deputy Mayor of Evesham, Coun Mark Goodge, and festival chairman, Doug Payne, officially launched the newest flood rescue boat on behalf of the South Worcestershire Life Savers.
The line-up for the day saw spectators welcome back the world’s number one life dog, the Newfoundland Rescue Dogs from South Wales, where they showcased their skill at water rescue.
The day concluded with a line up of river bound activities such as the raft building race, which saw team “oldies” from the South Worcestershire Life Savers make it to the finishing line with raft just about intact.
Doug Payne, said: “This year’s Festival was even bigger and better, drawing many more boaters and crowds.
“And with such glorious weather, where else would you want to be than by the water, enjoying the music and entertainment on offer in Workman Gardens.”
