Risk of thunderstorms as Met Office issue yellow weather warning

Evesham Editorial 30th Jun, 2022   0

WORCESTERSHIRE residents have been warned of the risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain today (Thursday)

A yellow weather warning has been issued until midnight with the June heat likely to trigger storms, particularly later this afternoon.

The warning covers a vast swathe of Western England and Wales with the Met Office warning thunderstorms and torrential downpours may cause travel disruption and, in a few places, flooding.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, according to forecasters.

A dry, sunny lunchtime in Evesham and Pershore will see a change early this afternoon with clouds bubbling up.

The Met Office currently forecasts a 50 per cent change of showers or rain between 6pm and 7pm and a longer spell of rain forecast from 9pm.

A dry morning tomorrow (Friday) will give way to showers in the afternoon, most likely between 12midday and 2pm.
