Revised timetable for South Worcestershire Development Plan Review revealed

Evesham Editorial 20th Jul, 2022   0

A CONSULTATION on a draft of the review for the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) will happen later this year if councillors approve.

The Regulation 19 Publication draft of the plan will be published in October to be considered by Malvern Hills District, Worcester City and Wychavon District Council members.

The plan will go out to public consultation in November and early December if approved and more details will be released at that time.

A detailed timetable will be drawn up following the consultation and the plan would be submitted to an independent inspector for examination.

The plan will be adopted if it passes that stage.

The SWDP review sets out where 14,000 new homes will be built across the area by 2041.

These include new settlements at Worcestershire Parkway, Throckmorton and Rushwick.

It should have gone out to consultation this month but was delayed because more work was needed on key documents on the required infrastructure.

Coun David Harrison, Chairman of the SWDP Joint Advisory Panel, said: “Making sure there is the proper infrastructure to support new housing is one of the main concerns of residents.

“That’s why it was correct we took the time to get this key piece of work right.

“Now that’s nearing completion, we can move forward and intend to put the plan out for public consultation later this year, subject to the approval of the three councils.”
